With the collective work of our department and student leaders, students will find a sense of community to deepen and challenge their identities and values so that they may thrive at Queens and beyond.

Important Dates

August 21, 2024 – 9 a.m. | First Year & New Transfer Students Move-in
August 24, 2024 – 9 a.m. | Returning Students Move-in
January 4, 2025 – 9 a.m. | All Students Return to Campus
April 30, 2025 – 10 a.m. | All Non-Graduating Students Move-out*
May 4, 2025 – 5 p.m. | Graduating Seniors Move-out

*Students must be moved out by this date or 24 hours following their last final, whichever comes first.

Meet the Team

Ivy Barefoot

Ivy Barefoot

Assistant Dean of Conduct & Director of Residence Life & Housing

Ivy began her career in student affairs in 2013 and joined Queens in the spring of 2020. As the Assistant Dean of Conduct, Ivy oversees the University Honor Code and is the designee for the Dean of Students. She also serves as the Director of Residence Life & Housing where she is responsible for the management and operation of the Department of Residence Life & Housing. She obtained her master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration from James Madison University and has a fulfilled career on both the east and west coasts. Ivy has a strong passion for not only housing but also for student conduct and strives to provide guidance and support to students in many avenues. When she is not at Queens, Ivy enjoys spending time with her twin boys exploring Charlotte and all things water!

Alexis Black

Alexis Black

Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing

Alexis Black has worked in areas within student affairs since 2018 and joined Queens and the Residence Life & Housing team in January 2023. As the Associate Director for RLH, she oversees room assignments and supports RLH operations. She received her master’s degree in College Student Personnel Services from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro. However, it was during her undergrad years as a first-gen student and Resident Assistant that she realized her drive and commitment toward college students. She thrives off the opportunities to support and empower student leaders throughout their collegiate careers. In her free time, Alexis enjoys music, Marvel movies, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Dinah.

Maya Ryan

Maya Ryan

Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing

Maya Ryan is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a proud alumna of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While at UNC-Charlotte Maya obtained a Bachelor’s in health systems management with a focus on public health and Women and Gender Studies, as well as a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. Maya has worked in higher education for the past 3 years as a Graduate Hall Advisor and a Resident Director. Maya is a proud member of the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) and loves opportunities to expand their knowledge to improve the collegiate experience. Maya is excited to create a fun and welcoming environment for all Royals!

Hannah Epstein

Hannah Epstein

Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing, Selection and Training

Hannah Epstein started her journey in Higher Education in 2018 when she attended Sweet Briar College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Educational Leadership. Following her undergraduate degree, Hannah attended the University of South Florida where she pursued a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in College Student Affairs. Hannah is passionate about helping students develop holistically and empowering them during their collegiate journey. Hannah is excited about being a part of the Queens Community and providing a great residential experience for students!
